Language embeds culture, is culture, and they are inseparable. Selfhood looks at how multiple cultures seep into a person through a person through muliple languages and how to craft cultural identities.

The title of the work (Selfhood) means individuality or an achieved personality. The original deliverables include an exhibition, image book and additional miscellaneous flyer-cum-tickets. The exhibition and book both essentially depict a story about how language comes into a person and the feelings and experiences that will be born along the journey.
This image book features over 15 colourful illustrations, in B5-size, bounded in matt hard cover. It was illustrated between February 2016 to April 2016, over a 2-month period.

These flyers/tickets are promotional items meant for the exhibition. Coming in 4 different languages that are most evident in the image book / exhibition, they work in two ways: Both a flyer and ticket. When all 4 flyers/tickets are placed together, they form an image, its underlying message being that with multilingualism, it makes up the different parts of the person.
This work was the primary exhibited work at The LASALLE Show 2016, at LASALLE College of the Arts. It was exhibited between 19th May to 1st June 2016. Extra stickers, stamps and a large A3-sized image book were also produced for this exhibition.
